Antoszyk, Gutsch break state records at powerlifting meet

At least 311 boys and 72 girls participated Saturday in a powerlifting contest at Quivera Heights High School in Bushton. Seven boys and one girl represented Centre High School.

Junior Thieen Antoszyk competed in the 140-lb. class and was first overall with a combined lift of 815 pounds.

He broke the previous state record of 320 pounds in squats by lifting 340 pounds. He also tied the state record in bench, 235, and in power cleans, 240.

In the 140-lb. class, senior Bryant Gutsch finished first in power cleans with 290 pounds, breaking a state record of 280 pounds.

Senior Jeremy Kristek placed first in power cleans in the 148-lb. class with a lift of 250, and finished first overall at 790.
