At least 50 individuals donated their time this spring to spruce up the building and grounds at Aulne United Methodist Church. More than 350 hours of work were logged.

Inside the church, they painted several rooms, repaired drywall as needed, and put new flooring in the upstairs bathrooms.

They cleaned all the woodwork in the sanctuary including the pews, washed windows and curtains, and spot-cleaned the carpets.

They also installed a speaker system in the basement.

Kitchen cabinets and storage closets were cleaned out, and books in the church library were sorted through and cleaned.

On the church grounds, the flag pole was painted and moved to a new location, trees were trimmed, and playground equipment and picnic tables received a sealant.

Dirt was placed around the foundation, landscaping was updated, and grass planted.

Neil Hett of Peabody delivered rock, James Olsen, Davey Hett, and Jerry Seibert operated bobcats, Clifford Hett used his dump truck, Doug Hett a lift, and Eugene Just a highloader.

Materials were donated by Bill Shirley and Sherwin-Williams of Newton. Many odds and ends were donated by individuals.

"We all worked together and had a good time," said church member Misti Hett.
