Marion-Florence Peabody-Burns wrestling team traveled to Halstead Thursday and Herington Saturday for its first action since before winter break. At the Halstead Double Dual the Warriors defeated Halstead but fell to Hesston. Saturday three wrestlers placed in the top three including Adam Depler (top left) who took second. Casey Nelson and Shawn Britton both finished third. Head coach Chad Adkins said his team lost several close matches, including some in overtime. Hank Collett (top right) came close in his match against a Chase County wrestler, tying the match in the final seconds, but eventually fell in overtime. The second-place finish for Depler gave him a team-high 10 victories against only three losses. Nelson now sits at 9-3, and Britton 5-1. The Warriors wrestle Friday and Saturday in the Halstead invitational, before playing host to their only home dual of the season Jan. 19.
