Barrett wins BCBS scholarship

Kayla Barrett, a Washburn University junior who has been an intern with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas since summer 2005, earned a $500 scholarship from the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

She now will be considered for one of 15 $1,000 scholarships granted by the national organization.

The Marion High School graduate is majoring in accounting and finance and plans to continue her internship in the corporate audit department until she completes her degree in 2008.

She is the daughter of Dave Barrett and Cynthia Barrett and granddaughter of Eunice Christensen, all of Marion.
