Ben Haury

Ben Haury, 19, of Topeka, died Feb. 21, 2005.

Born May 19, 1985, at Newton, he was the son of David and Rose (Wiebe) Haury.

He was a 2003 graduate of Topeka West High School and currently was a sophomore at Hesston College. He participated in band, jazz band, tennis, and scholars' bowl while in high school and was a National Merit semi-finalist. At Hesston he was studying computer science and biology.

Survivors include his parents, David and Rose Haury of Harrisburg, Pa.; a sister, Emily Haury of Goshen, Ind.; grandmothers, Ada Mae Haury of Newton and Rubena Wiebe of Hillsboro; aunts and uncles, Margaret Wiebe and Rachel and Mike Easter, all of Hesston, Hank and Lynn Wiebe and Kakim and Karla Kunantaev, all of Hillsboro, Kathy and Duane Loewen of Newton, and John and Carolyn Haury of Dearborn, Mich.; and 15 cousins.

Graveside services were held Saturday morning at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

A memorial service was held Saturday afternoon at Southern Hills Mennonite Church, Topeka.

Memorial funds have been established with the Mennonite Central Committee or Hesston College.
