Betty Jane Riedy
Betty Jane Riedy, 76, died Oct. 4, 2004, at her home in Hope.
Born Oct. 9, 1927, at Marion, she was the daughter of Fred and Alice (Hammer) Schimpf.
She grew up in the Marion community and attended Antelope and Pilsen schools.
On Sept. 27, 1949, she married Raymond Riedy at Pilsen. The couple lived in the Hope community since 1949.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Phillip Catholic Church, Hope.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Schmipf.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond of Hope; three sons, John Riedy of Salina, and Steven Riedy and David Riedy, both of Hope; daughter, Nancy Cowan of Hope; sister, Maxine Svitak of Pilsen; brother, George Schimpf of Peabody; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday morning at St. Phillip Catholic Church, Hope, with Father Mark Wesely officiating.
Burial was in St. Phillip Cemetery.
A memorial fund was established with the Hope Community Education Endowment Association.
