Billy Slusser

Billy H. Slusser, 87, died Sept. 11, 2004, in Houston, Texas.

He was born Oct. 22, 1916, in Cleveland, Okla.

Having grown up during the Great Depression, he knew the value of hard work and honesty.

He worked in the oil fields his entire life, drilling in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. His firm, Slusser Drilling Company, was known throughout the country.

An avid fisherman, Bill made frequent trips to Canada and taught his grandchildren how to fish before they could walk.

On Sept. 20, 1940, he married Billie L. Norman. The couple had one daughter, Patsy Ann. Both preceded him in death.

Survivors include two brothers, Alden of Marion and Blaine of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

His remains were cremated and he was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, with his wife and daughter.
