Both CJHS teams swamp St. Xavier

In games that were more like practice sessions than real contests, Centre Junior High School basketball teams defeated St. Xavier Thursday at home.

The girls won, 43-10. Centre led 17-4 at halftime. An 18-2 run in the third quarter gave them a 35-8 lead. A final advantage of 8-2 in the fourth quarter resulted in the 33-point win.

Jessica Deines and Carlye Simons scored 10 points each. Josie Peterson scored seven points, Ripley Howard six, Dallas Rosenow and Tori Schill four each, and Sammi Seifert two.

The boys' game was even more lopsided. They won, 61-4. St. Xavier's only scoring occurred in the second and fourth quarters, with one two-point goal each.

Needless to say, many members of the Centre team got to play, and 11 contributed points.

Trevor Troutt led scoring with 15 points. Jared Diepenbrock scored 10, Rustyn Kerbs seven, Tyler Klenda and Jacob Jennings, six, A.J. Temel four, and Casey Kristek, Heath Hill, Brian Burhoop, and Alex Hajek two each.

There were no "B" games.
