Boyce Baumgardner named assistant vice president for academic initiatives at ESU

Boyce Baumgardner has accepted, effective immediately, the position of assistant vice president for Academic Initiatives at Emporia State University, Emporia.

The focus of the position will be on special fund-raising and corporate development for programs such as the engraving arts, the National Teachers Hall of Fame, the Kansas Business Hall of Fame, and endowed professorships.

"There is so much potential growth for the National Teachers Hall of Fame, the Kansas Business Hall of Fame, endowed professorships, and the engraving arts program. I hope to expand and grow these programs and bring them to the forefront," Baumgardner said. "I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to a new challenge at this stage in my career."

During his seven years as executive director for University Advancement, Baumgardner played a key role in campus building projects and renovations. Projects include the renovation of Wooster Bridge, the Shepherd Music Center and Beach Music Hall, Roosevelt Hall, which includes the additions of the Ronald Q. Fredrickson Theatre and the Inez P. Friesen Studio, and the Hutchinson Family Pavilion at Welch Stadium.

Other projects include the new turf playing surface at Welch Stadium and the resurfacing of the Zola Witten Track. His most recent project is the John R. Webb Atrium addition to the Sauder Alumni Center.
