Ann Sparke, Morris County extension agent, and Marie Anderson coordinated a project, "Bread in a Bag," for third graders during the week of Kansas Day. Five area schools with eight classrooms were involved, including Centre Elementary School and Herington Middle School.

Volunteers helping with the event were Lois Peterson, Nancy Hanson, and Angela Basore, Burdick; Ruth Ann Carlson and Karen Carlson, Lincolnville; Mary Ann Schlesener, Gladys Albrecht, Joyce Lowe, Mary Wendt, and Terri Albrecht, Herington; and four Council Grove High School students. There also were several Centre and Herington parents assisting their children.

The students got to sample the bread, take a loaf home, and many loaves were made to give to area members who furnished supplies.

Dean Forsberg was a Monday and Tuesday afternoon visitor of Evelyn Forsberg.

Perry Gutsch and Anthony of Herington were Wednesday evening visitors of Darlene Gutsch. They enjoyed watching the K-State/KU basketball game on TV.

Ethan Forsberg was a Wednesday after-school visitor of Evelyn Forsberg.

In a recent communication from Mildred Hodson, she related the details of her family birthday party and how enjoyable it was. She also was appreciative of all the birthday cards and considerations she received.

Paul and Nadine James of Emporia were Wednesday afternoon visitors of Neva Peterson.

Forrest and Marie Anderson visited Gary and Karen Korte Saturday afternoon at Emporia.

Earl Peterson was a Sunday afternoon visitor of Neva Peterson. He brought the Hebron Lutheran Church bulletin.

Ruth Riggin met Lyal and Julie Sader at Junction City Sunday and they enjoyed dinner out. In the afternoon, they visited Gary Zinn at Wamego.

Dean Forsberg was a Friday dinner and afternoon guest of Evelyn Forsberg. Ethan Forsberg and Savannah Forsberg of Emporia were afternoon visitors.

There will be a community baby shower at 2 p.m. Sunday for Lindsay (Matz) Morgan of Wichita. She is the daughter of Steve and Janet Matz. The shower will be held at the Burdick United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Everyone is invited. P.S. It's a boy!

Keep Shelby (Deines) Linahan, daughter of Steve and Sandra Deines of Lawrence, in your thoughts and prayers. She is at KU Medical Center in serious condition.

Elinor Remy attended the Lincolnville senior citizens meeting Jan. 30 at the Lincolnville Community Building. The program was presented by Centre Elementary School fourth graders and their teacher and music instructor, Lynley Remy. The students each gave a short presentation about a famous Kansan.

Marvin Peterson and Josie of Lincolnville were Sunday dinner guests of Mary Deane Peterson.
