There will be a bridal shower for Andrea Carlson at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Burdick United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome.

Burdick Council of Clubs met June 9 with 10 members present. Entertainment has been obtained for the Sunday night program and Monday. There will be a community choir to provide music for the Sunday morning church service. A "best cowboy and cowgirl contest" is being planned. More details will be published later. The theme is "Round 'em Up, Bring 'em In" for those wanting to plan a float.

Earl and Ruth Schump of Herington were Monday afternoon visitors of Evelyn Forsberg.

Charles and Arlene Carlson are great-grandparents again. Jonnie and Cicely Karst of Wichita are the parents of a girl born this past week.

C.J. and Pat Baker and friends from Lawrence were Saturday morning visitors of Ruth Riggin.

Chelsea Cowart spent Wednesday with Mary Deane Peterson. They called on Mildred Harkness Wednesday morning.

Some of those from the area attending the Symphony in the Flint Hills south of Council Grove the afternoon and evening of June 14 were Clint and Diana Jost, Jewell and Brenda Swinney, Burdette and Maureen Peterson, Joyce Roever, Mary Deane Peterson, and Bill and Judy Peterson of Herington.

Harry Schump of Herington was a Tuesday dinner and supper guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Nick and Beth Weibert and Kaylee of Abilene and James Jost were Sunday dinner guests of Clint and Diana Jost.

Marie Anderson and other church circle members helped Saturday with a wedding reception for Jenny Schrader.

Harry Schump was a Sunday dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia, Erik Korte of Columbia, Mo., Ian Korte of Lawrence, and Erin Korte of Manhattan planned and accompanied Forrest and Marie Anderson June 1-7 on a trip on the cruise line Carnival Conquest to the Caribbean islands. It was in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Forrest and Marie, which was June 20. Forrest and Marie took an excursion trip to Jamaica island.

Guests of Gary and Marilyn Hageberg during the weekend were Janine Hageberg and Ashlynn and Trey Hageberg of Blackwell, Okla., who arrived Friday evening and Teresa Hageberg and Kenny and Cody Roberts of Topeka who came Saturday. Mike and Denice Hageberg, Steven and Trevor hosted a barbecue Saturday evening. Guests were Gary and Marilyn Hageberg, their houseguests, and Donald DeSpain of Louisburg.

Neva Peterson spent two weeks in Salina with Darrell and Candice Denault, returning home June 8. While at Salina, Neva and Candice visited Goldie Steeley.

In celebration of Father's Day, Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia took Forrest and Marie Anderson to Manhattan for dinner. They were joined by Erin Korte of Manhattan.

Pat and C.J. Baker and friends of Lawrence were Saturday afternoon visitors of Neva Peterson. Other visitors this week were Jack and Nancy Riggin, Lois Peterson, and Ruth Riggin.

Many friends, neighbors, and relatives attended the 50th anniversary open house for Gary and Marilyn Hageberg Sunday afternoon at the Burdick United Methodist Church fellowship hall.

Please keep the family of Ollie Peterson in your prayers this week. He died Sunday morning. Remember Arlene Carlson as she continues therapy at Herington Municipal Hospital.

Visitors of Darlene Gutsch this week were Marilyn Hageberg, Shelby Deines and Lee Ann Pankratz, and Perry Gutsch.

Perry Gutsch and Anthony were Saturday afternoon visitors of Darlene Gutsch. While they were here, they did one of the most obnoxious chores there is on a farm — chopping thistles. I appreciate them taking care of this chore for me.
