Perry and Amy Gutsch, Anthony and Whitney and Gayla Deines were Tuesday evening visitors of Darlene Gutsch. Anthony mowed the yard and Whitney watered flowers.

Burdick UMW met June 20 at the Burdick UMC fellowship hall with eight members and two guests present. Ann Minor, McPherson shepherdess gave the lesson. Debbie Kresky of McPherson brought the shepherdess to Burdick and was a guest at the meeting. Marilyn Hageberg had devotions and Khrista Branson served refreshments. The next meeting will be July 18.

Joe Forsberg of Salina was a Monday afternoon visitor of Evelyn Forsberg. Ethan Forsberg was a Tuesday evening visitor.

Several from the Burdick community attended the 50th wedding anniversary celebration of Gail and Carol Burns at the Herington community building Saturday afternoon. It was a great party with good music and food and much hospitality. Among those attending were Mary Deane Peterson, Burdette Peterson, Gary and Marilyn Hageberg, Dean and Shirley Gutsch, and Darlene Gutsch.

Harry Schump of Herington and Evelyn Forsberg went to Council Grove Thursday evening to attend a ball game which Morgan Rickenbrode played in.

Hebron Lutheran WELCA met June 20. Jewell Swinney was lesson leader and Nancy Hansen served refreshments. Attending were Gloria Martin, Alona Hedstrom, Dollye Novak, Naomi Nelson, and Carol Miller.

Burdick Council of Clubs meet Monday evening at the Legion shelter house.

Ruth Riggin attended a cookout Sunday with barbecue and homemade ice cream at the home of Brian Sader and Brylee and friend Missy at Salina. It was to celebrate Trevin's birthday. Other guests were Helen Sader of Herington, Lyal and Julie Sader of Salina, and Chris and Tisha Bielefeld, Megan and Seth of Solomon.

Dean Forsberg was a Friday dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg. Savannah was a Friday afternoon guest.

Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia hosted a 59th anniversary dinner Friday for Forrest and Marie Anderson at the Emma Chase Café in Cottonwood Falls. Other guests were Erik Korte and Sarah Jeffries of Columbia, Mo., Ian Korte of Emporia, and Erin Korte of Manhattan. Gary Korte was honored to join the group entertaining in singing.

Ruth Riggin hosted a dinner Sunday at the Mansion in Herington. Guests were Earl and Lois Peterson and Roger and Rolland Peterson.

Candice Denault of Salina spent Sunday afternoon with Neva Peterson.

Erik Korte and Sarah Jeffries of Columbia, Mo., were Saturday visitors of Forrest and Marie Anderson.

Wade Rickenbrode of Council Grove was a Sunday overnight visitor of Evelyn Forsberg.

Forrest and Marie Anderson attended a fund-raiser for Rod Coons Sunday noon at the community building.

Earl and Lois Peterson attended a wild hog roast Saturday evening at Gene Barr's cabin and pond east of Burdick.

Josie Peterson was a Friday overnight guest of Mary Deane Peterson.

Darrell and Jewell Swinney spent Saturday in Wichita at the home of Kelsi Cubbage with their grandchildren, Max and Leia.

Marilyn and Gary Hageberg met Theresa Hageberg, Kenny Roberts, and Phil Hageberg of Topeka in Herington Sunday. They all visited Janine Hageberg and new baby Ashlynn.

Dean and Nanette Forsberg hosted a birthday dinner Sunday for Sabrina Dunkin of Rose Hill. Other guests were Logan Dunkin, Savannah Forsberg, Harry Schump, Evelyn Forsberg, Nancy Hickman, Wade Rickenbrode, and Willie Shearer. Allen and Connie Thomas were afternoon guests.

Mary Deane Peterson and Naomi Nelson attended a hymn singing fest Sunday evening at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Herington.

Rylee and Preslee Karst of Wichita were weekend guests of their grandparents, Mike and Linda Carlson. They visited with great-grandparents Arlene and Charles Carlson Friday evening and Saturday.

June 10-17

My husband, Charles had an accident the morning of May 24, and broke his back. He had surgery May 26, but did not recover, and died June 10. My family and I have been overwhelmed by the concern and help from our community, church, relatives, and friends. I will be writing the news again and ask for your help in calling your news to me if possible.

Congratulations to Gary and Marilyn Hageberg, who became great-grandparents June 15. Their granddaughter, Janine gave birth to a daughter named Ashllyn Nicole, who was born at Newton Medical Center on her mother's birthday and the Hagebergs' anniversary.

Keep Forrest and Marie Anderson in your thoughts and prayers at the death of their brother-in-law, LaVerne Johnson of Lindsborg.

Bret and Lisa Beye hosted a birthday party for Cuyler Cowart and Elizabeth Beye and a Father's Day celebration Sunday evening at their home at Herington. Guests were relatives and friends. Mary Deane Peterson attended.

Gary and Marilyn Hageberg visited their new great-granddaughter, Ashllyn and her mother, Janine at Newton Medical Center Saturday evening. Mike and Denise Hageberg, Steven and Trevor took Gary and Marilyn out for supper for a 49th anniversary celebration.

Burdick Senior Citizens met June 15 at the Burdick Legion hall for a light supper together. Nineteen members attended. Plans are being made for a float in the Labor Day parade with Al and Lee Shade in charge.

Logan Dunkin of Rose Hill was a Thursday and Friday guest of Evelyn Forsberg. Dean Forsberg and Logan were Friday dinner guests.

Tye Remy and Ethan Forsberg spent this past week at Manhattan attending Boys State. They were sponsored by the Corlberg-Smith American Legion post.

The immediate family of Earl and Lois Peterson helped them celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary May 26-27 at the Grand Prairie Hotel and Convention Center in Hutchinson. All their family was able to attend. Their children, Jim and Marilyn Peterson, Dianne and Keith Miller of Grand Junction, Colo., and Phil and Jamie Peterson, were hosts.

Those attending were the honored couple, the hosts, and Mike Peterson and Kasey of Lyndon, Jamey and Matt Dalke, Reagan and Tyler of Hillsboro, Keith and Nora Jean Miller, Matthew and Megan of Grand Junction, Colo., Jeff and Andye Miller, Isaac and Oliver of Littleton, Colo., Greg and Teresa Miller, Cole and J.J. of Colorado Springs, Colo., Adriane Peterson and John Richard of Lawrence, and Chris Peterson and Sara Fasbender of Germany. Ken and Alice Peterson and Sue McIntyre of Herington were Wednesday afternoon visitors of Neva Peterson.

Charles and Arlene Carlson attended a barbecue for Father's Day Sunday evening hosted by Kent and Jean Brunner. Other guests were Mike and Linda Carlson, Lauren and Orville Brunner, Jill Brunner and Tucker, Tracy and Yvonne Brunner, Ken and Alice Peterson, Nolan and Melissa Brunner and Leah of Herington, Gary Schuler and family and Gertie Schubert, all of Colorado, and Lauren Katherine Brunner and friend, Jake.
