Harry Schump was a Monday afternoon visitor of Evelyn Forsberg. Dean Forsberg visited Wednesday morning.

There was a pre-July 4 basket supper Thursday evening at the Legion house attended by many area residents and some from Lincolnville. There were ball games at the ball field at 7 and 8 p.m. and a fireworks display at dark.

Fourth of July dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg were Harry Schump, Dean and Nanette Forsberg, Savannah Forsberg, Ethan Forsberg, and Sammi Seifert.

Harry Schump of Herington was a Sunday dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Jay J. Beck is the new minister of Burdick United Methodist Church, with July 6 being his first to be in our pulpit as minister. He and his wife, Donna and their four children reside at Junction City.

Burdick UMW will meet at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at the fellowship hall. Devotions will be given by Evelyn Matz and the hostess is Betty Frobenius. The lesson will be given by shepherdess Rowena Olsen of Marion.

Keep in your prayers this week, the family of Darcy Volkman after his death, Mary Deane Peterson and Marilyn Peterson, recuperating at home after surgery.

Forrest and Marie Anderson were entertained June 28 with a dinner at a Manhattan restaurant, hosted by their family. Those attending were Forrest and Marie, Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia, Erik Korte of Columbia, Mo., Ian Korte of Lawrence, and Erin Korte of Manhattan. Their family presented them with two albums and a video of their life and cruise in celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary.

Trevor Hageberg was a Sunday afternoon visitor of Gary and Marilyn Hageberg. He helped Gary at the meat market with some work.

Lee and Elinor Remy were Friday evening visitors of Tom and Lynley Remy and family for a fireworks display. Tad and Tye Remy of Manhattan were home for the holiday.

Forrest and Marie Anderson were Thursday and Friday guests of Gary and Karen Korte at Emporia.

Marilyn Peterson came home Sunday from Newton Medical Center. Lois Peterson had been to the hospital during the week to visit her.

Ken and Alice Peterson were Sunday afternoon visitors of Charles and Arlene Carlson. Jean Brunner, Jill Brunner, and Tucker were Sunday evening visitors.

Ruth Riggin attended the Ramona 4th of July parade Friday evening. She met Lyal and Julie Sader of Salina there.

Hebron Lutheran Church and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, have formed a joint parish and will share minister Bill Peterson. His first service was Sunday at Hebron. To welcome him, they had a basket dinner after the service. St. Paul members were invited to attend. The parish has been named Good Neighbor Parish.

Those who called on Mary Deane Peterson since she returned home Thursday after surgery were Bill Peterson, Bret and Lisa Beye, Marvin Peterson and Josie, Jenny Schrader, Joyce Roever, Nancy Hanson, Jennifer Kassebaum, Katrina and Matthew Basore, and Burdette and Maureen Peterson.
