Doris Winkler and Bruce Winkler of Marion were Thursday evening visitors of Darlene Gutsch. Darlene accompanied them to Al's Café at Lost Springs for supper.

Evelyn Forsberg had cataract surgery Monday. Jane Rickenbrode and Morgan of Council Grove visited her Monday afternoon.

Dean Forsberg and Savannah were Wednesday dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg. Mary Deane Peterson was a Wednesday evening visitor.

Harry Schump of Herington took Evelyn Forsberg to the Saddle Rock Café at Council Grove Friday noon. He spent the afternoon visiting with her at her home.

Walter Barnes and Zach Barnes of Tulsa, Okla., came Sunday to visit Burdette and Maureen Peterson and Mary Deane Peterson and family. They were overnight guests of the Burdette Petersons.

Marvin and Shelly Peterson of Lincolnville were Sunday afternoon visitors of the Burdette Petersons and their houseguests. All were Sunday evening visitors of Bill and Judy Peterson at Herington.

Anthony Gutsch was a Saturday morning visitor of Darlene Gutsch and mowed part of the yard. Amy Gutsch and Whitney visited Saturday noon and Anthony went home with them. Perry Gutsch visited Saturday afternoon and finished mowing the yard.

Hats off to the Burdick Ball Association! A good crowd attended the potluck supper Tuesday evening at the Legion shelter house. The event was part of the pre-4th of July celebration sponsored by the Burdick Ball Association. Co-ed ball games were played at the ball field after supper and at dark there was a crowd-pleasing display of fireworks. Thanks to all who made this community event a success.

Burdick Council of Clubs met July 2 at the Legion shelter house. Ten members were present. Most plans have been finalized for entertainment, events, etc. It was Nancy Hanson's birthday so she furnished refreshments for the group. The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Legion shelter house.

Gayla Deines visited with Darlene Gutsch Monday evening.

Earl and Lois Peterson took Ruth Riggin and Roger and Rolland Peterson to Junction City Sunday noon for Chinese food.

Perry and Amy Gutsch, Anthony and Whitney of Herington and Gayla Deines and Shelby were 4th of July evening visitors of Darlene Gutsch. Perry Gutsch and Whitney went to the ball field to watch the fireworks and the rest of the group enjoyed them from the porch and front yard at the Gutsch home.

Dean Forsberg and Savannah were Tuesday dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg. Earl and Ruth Schump of Herington were Tuesday evening visitors.

Gayla Deines was a Saturday evening visitor of Darlene Gutsch.

Josie Peterson of Lincolnville spent Saturday afternoon and evening with Mary Deane Peterson.

Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia took Forrest and Marie Anderson to Herington for Sunday dinner to celebrate Marie Anderson's birthday.

Sunday afternoon visitors of Darlene Gutsch were Mary Deane Peterson and Perry Gutsch and Whitney of Herington.

Those helping Marie Anderson celebrate her birthday Sunday evening were Forrest Anderson, Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia, Albert and Lee Shade, Neva Peterson, Leona Anderson, Ken and Alice Peterson, and George and Mary Ann Schlesner of Herington.

There will be a community choir performance at the church service during the Labor Day celebration. Lynley Remy will be the director. Practice will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 8, 15, 22, and 29 at Hebron Lutheran Church. Anyone is welcome to participate.

Amy Gutsch, Anthony and Whitney visited Darlene Gutsch Tuesday afternoon. Anthony did some mowing and Whitney helped with some household chores.

Jack and Nancy Riggin were Sunday afternoon visitors of Neva Peterson after the Burdick Relay for Life benefit.

Saturday morning callers of Mary Deane Peterson were Bill and Judy Peterson of Herington and Ben and Abby Denly of Winfield.

Charles and Arlene Carlson attended the Relay for Life benefit Sunday after church. They visited with Kent and Jean Brunner, Jill Brunner and Tucker at their home. They also visited with Amy Hanely of Salina, who also was there.

Marvin Peterson and Josie of Lincolnville and Mary Deane Peterson called Monday on Les and Marie Thorton of Abilene. It was the Thortons' 57th wedding anniversary.

Janine Hageberg and Ashlynn of Herington spent Friday afternoon with Marilyn Hageberg.

Perry Gutsch spent some time this weekend with Darlene Gutsch, helping with errands and chores while she was laid up with her knee.

Tom and Lynley Remy, Tad, Tye, and Katie were Saturday supper guests of Lee and Elinor Remy and their houseguests, Chuck and Jan Creager and family of Ridgedale, Mo. The Creagers provided music for Hebron Lutheran services Sunday morning.

Linda Peterson stopped Sunday morning at Darlene Gutsch's and ran some errands for her. Mary Deane was a Sunday afternoon visitor.

Kelli and Cesar Salazar and Rigo of Derby entertained with a first birthday party for Mario. Guests from Burdick were Burdette and Maureen Peterson, Mary Deane Peterson, Bret and LIsa Beye, Cuyler and Chelsea, Josie Peterson, and Ron and Jenny Schrader, Shae and Hunter.

Those who visited Oliver Peterson Saturday noon at the Herington long-term center were Bart and Laura Peterson, Garret, Oliver, and Tucker of Ardsley, N.Y., Sonja Pittrick, Grant and Wade of Shawnee, and Earl and Lois Peterson.

The Tom Remy family and Chuck Creager family enjoyed an early fireworks display Sunday evening at the home of Lee and Elinor Remy.

The Diamond Valley High School class of 1957 held a reunion June 30 at the home of Sy and Neva Joyce (Gutsch) Fischer at Wichita. They also invited the classes of 1956 and 1958. They enjoyed visiting, entertainment by a barbershop quartet from McPherson, and a catered barbecue supper. Those attending from the class of 1957 were Doris (Miller) and Tom Cain, Sarah Jane (Falen) Platz, Willard and Shirley Olson, Keith and Jan Olson, Gene and Jan Burns. Those from the class of 1956 were Jewel (Gutsch) and Darrell Swinney, Pat (Riggin) and C.J. Baker, and Loren Johnson. Those from the class of 1958 included Nadine (Schild) and Paul James, Mary Louise (Hodson) and Leroy Pritchard, and Bruce and Alona Hedstrom.
