Burdick: Baby shower will honor Eric and Bethany Carlson

There will be a baby shower at 2 p.m. Sunday for Eric and Bethany Carlson at the Burdick UMC fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome to come.

Burdick UMW will meet at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at the Burdick United Methodist fellowship hall. The lesson will be given by Kiki Krause and devotions by Evelyn Matz. Hostesses are Shirley Miller and Susan Carlson.

Dean Forsberg was a Wednesday dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Jim Gutsch and a friend of Emporia visited Monday morning with Darlene Gutsch.

Audine Strand and Evelyn Forsberg visited Mary Deane Peterson Thursday afternoon.

Harry Schump of Herington was a Sunday dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Perry Gutsch of Herington was a Wednesday morning visitor of Darlene Gutsch.

Gary and Marilyn Hageberg met Theresa Hageberg and Phillip and Kenny Roberts of Topeka at Junction City Thursday evening. Phillip returned to Burdick with his grandparents for a few days visit. Trevor Hageberg was a Saturday overnight guest of Gary and Marilyn Hageberg and Phillip. Gary and Marilyn Hageberg and Phillip met Theresa Hageberg in Junction City Sunday and Phillip returned home with her.

Perry Gutsch was a Saturday afternoon visitor of Charles and Darlene Gutsch. He brought a small scrapbook memento of their sale that Amy Gutsch had made, complete with photos.

The Burdick Bullets, men's slo-pitch softball team, played their league tournament in Peabody on Aug. 4-6. There were 12 teams entered. Burdick lost to Peabody in the championship game.

Keep Chris Peterson and his family in your prayers this week. He was in an automobile accident Saturday evening and is in the hospital at Wichita.

The women of the Central States Synod of the ELCA held their annual convention July 28-30 at Joplin, Mo. Those attending from Burdick Hebron Lutheran Church were Nancy Hanson, Gloria Martin, and Jewell Swinney.

Mike and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan of Council Grove were Tuesday evening visitors of Evelyn Forsberg. Wade remained to stay several days with his grandmother.

Many relatives and friends helped Oliver Peterson celebrate his 98th birthday July 29 with a potluck supper in the Hebron church basement.

Ethan Forsberg and Wade Rickenbrode were Wednesday dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg. Glen Carlson was an afternoon visitor.

Larry Peterson has spent this week with Neva Peterson and will return Tuesday to his home in Colorado.

Evelyn Forsberg took Wade Rickenbrode back to his home at Council Grove Friday morning.

Among those relatives visiting with Charles and Darlene Gutsch Saturday during their farm auction were Ray and Linda Gottstein of McPherson, Jim and Marlene Gutsch of Emporia, Ken Nienstedt and Laine of Marion, Gary Nesser of Florence, and Buck and Joyce Sangwin of White City.

Dean Forsberg and Ethan were Saturday morning visitors of Evelyn Forsberg.

Marie Anderson visited Tuesday afternoon with Neva Peterson.

Perry Gutsch and Whitney of Herington were Friday visitors of Charles and Darlene Gutsch to help. Perry and Whitney ate lunch with Darlene. Jeff and Gayla Deines came Friday evening to help. The Jeff Deines family and Perry Gutsch family and Dustin Burnett of Lincolnville came Saturday to attend the sale.

Charles and Arlene Carlson and Forrest and Marie Anderson were Thursday evening guests of Earl and Lois Peterson.

Jim Gutsch and Wayne Lee of Emporia visited Sunday afternoon with Charles and Darlene Gutsch. They came to pick up some machinery Jim had bought at the sale.

Wade and Morgan Rickenbrode came home from church Sunday with Evelyn Forsberg. They, along with Harry Schump of Herington were supper guests. Mike and Jane Rickenbrode picked up the children Sunday evening.
