Burdick: Community plans meeting on meth problems

A public information meeting will be held at noon Friday at Burdick Legion Hall. A free lunch will be provided, but a reservation is needed. The 45-minute program subject is methamphetamine manufacturing problems, sponsored by a meth prevention grant awarded to Kansas State University Research and Extension, Morris County and Morris County Drug-Free Communities. Wayne and Nancy Hanson and Allen visited Tuesday afternoon with Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.

Charles and Darlene Gutsch attended the regular meeting of Esther Chapter #96 OES Monday evening at Herington. They, along with others at the meeting were invited to John and Deanna Kline's home to view their Christmas decorations and enjoy refreshments.

Josie Peterson of Lincolnville was a Wednesday supper guest of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. Evening callers were Marvin Peterson and Maureen Peterson.

Dean Forsberg and Joe Forsberg were Tuesday morning visitors of Evelyn Forsberg.

Neva Peterson's visitors this week were C.J. and Pat Baker, Marc Baker of Lawrence, Jack and Nancy Riggin, Ruth Riggin, and Earl Peterson.

Charles and Arlene Carlson were Saturday dinner guests of Jean and Kent Brunner. It was an early birthday celebration for Kent. Other guests were Lauren and Orval Brunner, Jill Brunner and Tucker of Manhattan, and Nolan Brunner of Herington. John and Amy Hanely of Salina were afternoon guests.

Harry Schump of Herington and Dean Forsberg were Wednesday dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg.

Burdette and Maureen Peterson were Friday evening visitors of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.

Logan Dunkin spent Thursday afternoon with Evelyn Forsberg. Others visiting were Harry Schump and Sabrina Dunkin of Herington, Joe Forsberg, and Marcus Carlson.

Marvin Peterson and Scott of Lincolnville and Burdette and Maureen Peterson visited Saturday afternoon with Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.

Forrest and Marie Anderson had dinner this past week with Earl and Marcella Hermstein at Herington.

Savannah Forsberg was a Thursday night visitor of Evelyn Forsberg.

Marvin and Shelly Peterson of Lincolnville visited Sunday morning with Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. Bill Peterson of Herington brought dinner Sunday noon and spent the afternoon. Judy Peterson is spending a few days with the Sara Denley family at Winfield. Evening callers were Scott Peterson and Burdette and Maureen Peterson.

Morris County Extension is sponsoring a program entitled "Bread in a Bag" to be held Jan. 26-27 at Centre Elementary School. This program is for third grade students. If you would like to help, call Marie Anderson at 785-983-4833.

Mike and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan of Council Grove, Harry Schump and Sabrina Dunkin and Logan of Herington, Joe Forsberg, and Dean Forsberg, Savannah and Ethan were Friday evening visitors of Evelyn Forsberg. They were celebrating Jane's birthday. Wade spent from Friday evening to Sunday evening with Evelyn.

Charles Gutsch attended the junior high basketball game Thursday night between Centre and St. Xavier. Granddaughter Shelby Deines plays on the team.

Mike and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan and Evelyn Forsberg visited Saturday evening with Harry Schump at Herington.

Max and Leia Cubbage of Park City were guests from Thursday until Monday evening of their great-grandparents, Darrell and Jewel Swinney. Kelsi Cubbage of Park City and Brenda Swinney of Herington were Sunday guests of Darrell and Jewel Swinney.

Jane Rickenbrode and Savannah Forsberg were Sunday afternoon visitors of Evelyn Forsberg. Evening visitors were Mike Rickenbrode and Morgan and Dean Forsberg. Wade returned home with his parents.

Charles and Arlene Carlson, Mike and Linda Carlson, Jean Brunner, and Jill Brunner and Tucker of Manhattan attended the Laudemann family reunion Saturday at the White City home of Nancy and Galen Laudemann.

Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia, Ian Korte, Erik Korte of Springfield, Mo., and Erin Korte of Manhattan spent part of the holidays with Forrest and Marie Anderson. They arrived Dec. 23 and stayed through Christmas Eve day.

Ethan Forsberg was a Tuesday dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg. Mike and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan of Council Grove were Tuesday afternoon visitors. Wade stayed a few days with Evelyn. Dean Forsberg and Glen Carlson were Wednesday afternoon visitors. Wade, Dean, and Ethan were her Wednesday dinner guests.

Whitney Gutsch of Herington spent Wednesday with Charles and Darlene Gutsch.

Forrest and Marie Anderson called on the Basores Christmas Day afternoon. The Andersons were Dec. 26 guests of Gary and Karen Korte at Emporia. While there, they visited Erin Korte at Manhattan. They returned home Tuesday.

Mitch Peterson and children of Olathe were Tuesday morning coffee guests of Charles and Arlene Carlson. Others visiting included Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, Mike and Linda Carlson, and Rylee Karst of Wichita.

Linda Carlson and Charles and Arlene Carlson took Rylee Karst Wednesday to Newton to meet Cicely Karst. Rylee returned to Wichita with her mother. Jonnie Karst has been ill with the flu.

Cecelia (Herpich) Coffey of Hutchinson was a Tuesday morning visitor of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.

Harry Schump, Sabrina Dunkin and Logan of Herington, Savannah Forsberg, and Linnea Barlow were Thursday afternoon visitors of Evelyn Forsberg.

Buck and Joyce Sangwin of White City stopped Friday morning for a short visit with Darlene Gutsch to return some Nienstedt family history they had shared. They also were going to visit Ken and Margie Nienstedt at Marion.

Ruth Riggin was a Christmas Day dinner guest of Lyle and Julie Sader at Salina. Other guests were Chris and Tisha Bielefeld, Megan and Seth of Peabody, Brian and Corey Sader, Trevin and Brylee of Salina, and Helen Sader of Herington.

Forrest and Marie Anderson and Earl and Marcella Hermstein of Herington were Saturday evening guests of Charles and Mona Kniebel at White City.

Jean Brunner and Jill Brunner and Tucker of Manhattan came Friday to the home of Charles and Arlene Carlson to take down and put away Christmas decorations, tree, and clean house. They all had lunch together.

Mike and Jane Rickenbrode and Morgan came Friday afternoon to visit Evelyn Forsberg and take Wade home.

Mitch Peterson, Morgan, Vanessa, Grant, and Hannah of Olathe were Dec. 26 and 27 guests of Roger and Rolland Peterson. They were all guests Dec. 26 evening of Earl and Lois Peterson, along with Ollie Peterson and Dick and Margaret Peterson of Springfield, Mo.

Evelyn Forsberg attended church Sunday at Council Grove and was a New Year's Day dinner guest of Mike and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan.

Lee and Elinor Remy were Friday evening guests of Earl and Lois Peterson. They all had supper at Main Street Café at Durham.

Perry Gutsch of Herington was a Saturday late afternoon visitor of Charles and Darlene Gutsch.
