Burdick: Gary Hageberg surprised on 70th birthday years ago

Marilyn Hageberg surprised Gary with a birthday cake and refreshments Sunday at the social time between Sunday school and church to honor his 70th birthday which was Monday. Family present to celebrate and attend church were Theresa Hageberg and Phillip, Kenny Roberts and sons, Cody and Clay of Topeka, Gene Hageberg and Steven, Diana, and Trevor Dalton, of Hillsboro, Janine Hageberg of Emporia, and Mike and Denice Hageberg. They all enjoyed dinner together in Junction City. Others joining them for dinner were Carol Dutton and Kevin of Manhattan and Tanner Dutton of Olathe.

Twenty-five American Legion and auxiliary members and their families enjoyed a carry-in supper Tuesday evening in honor of the American Legion's 85th birthday. After supper the organizations held their respective meetings and then enjoyed cake and ice cream.

Jim and Marlene Gutsch of Emporia were Monday morning visitors of Charles and Darlene Gutsch.

Harry Schump of Herington and Evelyn Forsberg attended the "Arrow of Light" Boy Scout ceremony Monday evening at Council Grove. Wade Rickenbrode was one of the Cub Scouts who was initiated into Boy Scouts.

Forrest and Marie Anderson were March 5 supper guests of Earl and Marcella Hermstein at Herington.

Charles Gutsch attended Ag Day Wednesday at Marion. It was sponsored by Jerry Cady Agency and Central National Bank.

Charles Gutsch visited Wednesday afternoon with his sister, Juanita Helmer at Marion.

Francis George will celebrate his 98th birthday March 14. Remember him with cards.

Charles and Darlene Gutsch attended Herington Middle School Thursday evening for the vocal presentation of "The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf." Grandson, Anthony Gutsch of Herington was a member of the chorus.

Dean Forsberg was a Wednesday dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Charles and Arlene Carlson visited Saturday afternoon with Kent and Jean Brunner and Jill Brunner and Tucker of Manhattan.

Charles and Darlene Gutsch attended the Esther Chapter #96 OES carry-in supper and meeting March 6 at the Masonic Temple at Herington.

Morgan Rickenbrode of Council Grove was a Friday and Saturday guest of Evelyn Forsberg. Evelyn and Morgan visited Friday afternoon with Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. Ethan Forsberg was a Friday evening visitor of Evelyn and Morgan.

Charles and Darlene Gutsch and Glen Carlson and Andy were among those who attended the Agri Producers Inc. annual meeting and dinner Saturday at Tampa Senior Center.

Savannah Forsberg and Morgan Rickenbrode were Saturday dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg. Earl and Ruth Schump and Harry Schump of Herington were Saturday evening guests.

Forrest and Marie Anderson went Friday evening to Emporia and were overnight guests of Gary and Karen Korte. They accompanied Gary and Karen Saturday to Springfield, Mo., to visit Erik Korte. The Anderson's returned home Sunday morning.

Ethan Forsberg was a Sunday morning and dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Visitors of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson since he came home Wednesday afternoon from the hospital were Bill and Judy Peterson, Scott Stroda, Bret and Lisa Beye, Joyce Roever of Herington, Dave and Sara Denly, Ben and Abby of Winfield, Dave Thorton of Wichita, Marvin and Shelly Peterson, Scott and Josie of Lincolnville, Burdette and Maureen Peterson, Oliver Peterson, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, Earl and Lois Peterson, Phil Peterson, Irvin and Audine Strand, Dean Gutsch, Charles Gutsch, Naomi Nelson, and Tye Remy.

Charles and Mona Kniebel of White City were Sunday evening guests of Forrest and Marie Anderson.

Remember Galen Peterson and Kiki Krause who both recently had surgery.
