Burdick: Petersons enjoy sights of Oklahoma

Marvin Peterson and Josie of Lincolnville took Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson on a trip to Oklahoma this week. They visited the Cowboy Hall of Fame Monday at Oklahoma City. Tuesday they toured the Oklahoma City National Memorial. They went to Tulsa from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon to visit Mary Deane's sister and husband, Marjorie and Floyd Barnes. All were supper guests Tuesday of Jane Barnes, a niece at Tulsa. They went to a new aquarium Wednesday at Tulsa, then returned home Thursday afternoon.

Lee and Elinor Remy spent five days at the home of Chuck and Jan Creger in Ridgedale, Mo., baby-sitting their twin grandsons. Jan was in Baton Rouge, La., working the Miss Teen Pageant.

Visitors Wednesday of Earl and Evelyn Forsberg were Dean Forsberg and Charles Gutsch.

Charles and Arlene Carlson were Saturday afternoon visitors of Kent and Jean Brunner. Jill Brunner and Tucker of Manhattan also were visitors.

Neva Peterson and Dr. John and Lois Salmeron of Oklahoma City, Okla., were Saturday supper guests of Ken and Alice Peterson at Herington. The Salmerons had been to Colorado and spent the night with the Petersons at Herington.

Lee and Elinor Remy attended the Schaaf reunion Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church parish hall at Herington.

Earl and Evelyn Forsberg took Wade Rickenbrode to his home Wednesday afternoon at Council Grove.

Burdick United Methodist Women will meet at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at the church fellowship hall. Evelyn Matz will give devotions. Noreen Weems of Peabody will give the program. Marilyn Hageberg and Shirley Miller will be hostesses.

Wally and Romona Salonka of Herington were Friday visitors of Irvin and Audine Strand.

Earl and Ruth Schump and Harry Schump of Herington were Wednesday evening visitors of Earl and Evelyn Forsberg.

Darrell and Candice Deneault of Salina were Sunday afternoon visitors of Neva Peterson.

Jon and Kristen Nelson and Samuel were Saturday evening visitors of Lee and Elinor Remy.

Several from our community attended the Relay for Life celebration Friday night at Council Grove. Attending were Linda and Dan Peterson, Gary Hageberg, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson, and Bud and Maureen Peterson. Wendell and Mary Deane walked the survivor's lap. We all are so proud of our Burdick Bunch who raised more than $5,000.

Charles and Arlene Carlson were Sunday supper guests of Mike and Linda Carlson. Jonnie and Cicely Karst and Rylee of Wichita also were guests. Jonnie and Cicely had come to pick up Rylee who had spent some time with her grandparents, Mike and Linda Carlson.

Ethan Forsberg was a Thursday dinner guest of Earl and Evelyn Forsberg.

Earl and Lois Peterson went to Kearney, Neb., Saturday and Sunday where they visited relatives. They were overnight guests Saturday of Fay and Beverly Schroer.
