Burdick: School Days is theme of Labor Day event

Alumni of Diamond Valley High School will hold a reunion this fall during Burdick Labor Day festivities Sept. 2, 3, and 4.

The organizing committee has chosen "School Days" as the theme for this year's parade. There will be a special category for class floats relating to school days. Prizes will be awarded.

The weekend will kick off with a co-ed recreational softball tournament on Saturday.

At 9 a.m. Sunday, a community worship service will be held at the tennis courts.

The alumni reunion will be held Sunday afternoon, followed by an evening of entertainment beginning at 7:30 p.m. A group of singers and several dancers will perform.

Homemade ice cream will be on sale at the end of the evening.

Monday's activities will begin with a two-mile fun run/walk. Bake sales, arts and crafts, and an inflated slide will be available.

Lunch will by served by Centre FFA, with musical entertainment provided throughout the dinner hour.

The parade will begin at 2 p.m, followed by a Pedal Power competition and a horseshoe-throwing contest.

Parade winners will be announced at approximately 3 p.m.

Couple to appear

on Hatteberg's People

Daryl and Pat Enos of rural Marion will appear on Hatteberg's People at 10 p.m. Sunday on KAKE-TV.

The feature centers on the Enoses as owners of River Mill Woods and casket makers. Journalist Larry Hatteberg focuses the interview on why the couple builds customized wooden caskets.

Hatteberg features Kansas residents in the weekly Sunday segment during the 10 p.m. newscast.
