Burdick: Senior services is topic of senior citizens meeting

Burdick senior citizens will meet at 2 p.m. Friday at Burdick American Legion building. Bring cookies or something to go with coffee. Lori Dornbush, director of services at Hilltop Senior Center, Herington will present services available at Hilltop. Peggy Peters, director of services at Council Grove Senior Center will tell about services available in Morris County.

Logan Dunkin of Herington was a Tuesday and Wednesday visitor of Evelyn Forsberg. Ethan Forsberg was a Wednesday supper guest. Wade Rickenbrode of Council Grove spent the weekend with Evelyn.

Dinner guests Saturday of Evelyn were Mike and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan of Council Grove and Dean and Savannah Forsberg. Ethan Forsberg and Wade Rickenbrode were Saturday supper guests. Harry Schump of Herington and Ethan Forsberg were Sunday supper guests of Evelyn.

Enno Burhoop was a Monday morning visitor of Forrest and Marie Anderson.

Alona Hedstrom took her daughter, Tana Riffel and granddaughters, Kailyn and Callie of Lincolnville Saturday to Council Grove to the Smithsonian Food Exhibit - Key Ingredients. They also visited the Bakelite Kitchen Utensils display at the library. They all had lunch together after visiting the exhibit.

Hebron Lutheran WELCA is sponsoring a project for hurricane Katrina victims. They will furnish cleaning kits consisting of pail, broom, dust pan, and cleaning supplies. Donations may be made to any WELCA member.

Many from the community attended the 26th wedding anniversary celebration Saturday evening for Jack and Nancy Riggin at Herington Community Building.

Charles Gutsch and the Deines family attended the sub-state basketball tournament Friday evening at El Dorado. Centre girls played in the tournament.

Darrell and Candice Denault of Salina were Saturday overnight until Sunday afternoon guests of Neva Peterson. They attended the anniversary party at Herington for Jack and Nancy Riggin.

Irvin and Audine Strand and Charles and Darlene Gutsch were among those who attended the Saturday morning pancake feed at Herington Senior Center.

C.J. and Pat Baker of Lawrence were Saturday overnight guests of Ruth Riggin.

Francis George celebrates his 98th birthday Tuesday. Remember him with cards. Angela and Rick Basore and family will help him celebrate with a cake at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Burdick United Methodist Church fellowship hall.

Pat Baker was a Sunday morning coffee visitor of Neva Peterson and her guests.

Alona Hedstrom took her aunt and uncle, Esther and Ken Brabb of Alta Vista to a funeral Wednesday morning at Topeka for a friend and relative, Viola Ransom. She was 99 and would have celebrated her 100th birthday in four days.

Luncheon guests Sunday noon of Neva Peterson were Larry Peterson of Colorado, Darrell and Candice Denault, and Dr. Scotty and Karin Patton of Phillipsburg. The Pattons and Neva visited Sunday afternoon with Paul Anderson at Council Grove.

Jan Creger, Jacob and Caleb of Ridgedale, Mo., were Monday through Thursday visitors of her parents, Lee and Elinor Remy.
