Burdick: Strands hike across Flint Hills from Z-Bar Ranch to Burdick to visit family

Garth and Pam Strand of Buhler hiked Wednesday morning across the Flint Hills from Z-Bar Ranch to Burdick to the Irvin Strand home. Irvin and Audine Strand took them back to Z-Bar Ranch to pick up their car.Angela and Rick Basore and family served a decorated birthday cake and fruit tray for Francis George's birthday at the social time between Sunday school and church Sunday at Burdick UM Church fellowship hall. Francis' birthday was March 14.

Charles Gutsch was a late Wednesday afternoon visitor of Mary Deane Peterson. Perry Gutsch of Herington was a Wednesday evening visitor at the Peterson home and also visited with Charles.

Jean Brunner and Mike and Linda Carlson were Wednesday afternoon coffee guests of Charles and Arlene Carlson.

Charles Gutsch attended a senior citizen meeting Monday afternoon at Council Grove.

Gayla Deines and Justin were Saturday afternoon visitors of Charles and Darlene Gutsch. Justin had practice at Burdick.

Keep Mary Deane Peterson and family in your prayers. Wendell Peterson died Wednesday morning at home. A visitation was held Friday at Herington. Funeral services were held Saturday at Hebron Lutheran Church with committal services following in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.

Charles Gutsch visited Saturday afternoon with Galen and Janis Peterson.

Burdick UM Women met Wednesday at fellowship hall. Ten members were present. The lesson was given by Jean Ecklund. Marilyn Hageberg gave devotions. Refreshments keeping with St. Patrick's Day were served by Ruth Riggin. Plans were made for the April 19 spring tea with a meal and guest speaker. It was reported the baby beds with mattress, quilt, and supplies will be taken to Mexico this week.

Wade and Morgan Rickenbrode of Council Grove were Sunday overnight guests of Evelyn Forsberg. Ethan Forsberg was a Sunday evening visitor.

Enno Burhoop was a Tuesday morning visitor of Forrest and Marie Anderson.

Dean Forsberg and Harry Schump of Herington were Wednesday dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg. Glen Carlson was a Wednesday afternoon visitor and evening visitors were Sabrina Dunkin and Logan of Herington and Dean Forsberg.

Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia came Saturday for the Wendell Peterson funeral. They stopped in the afternoon for a short visit with Forrest and Marie Anderson.

Bob Riggin of Detroit, Mich., and Robbie Riggin of Parsons were Saturday evening visitors of Neva Peterson.

Ethan Forsberg was a Friday lunch guest of Evelyn Forsberg. Dean and Nanette Forsberg and Savannah and Mike and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan of Council Grove were Friday evening visitors. Wade was an overnight guest.

Charles and Darlene Gutsch attended the 90th birthday open house Sunday afternoon for Edmund Steiner at the Pilsen activity center. His children, Dennis and Mary Steiner, Terry and Deanna Steiner of Lincolnville, and Marlene and Jim Gutsch of Emporia hosted the event. Later Charles and Darlene attended a visitation for Doris (Hurt) Bowyer at Zeiner Funeral Home at Marion. She died Thursday at Wichita.

Mae Forsberg of Riley, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Forsberg of Spring Hill, Harry Schump and Marcus and Sabrina Dunkin and Logan of Herington, Joe Forsberg of Salina, Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan of Council Grove, and Dean and Nanette Forsberg, Savannah and Ethan were guests of Evelyn Forsberg following the Saturday funeral services for Wendell Peterson.
