Burdick: Women host spring tea

Burdick UMW hosted a spring tea Wednesday at fellowship hall. More than 75 women from churches at Burdick, Lincolnville, Ramona, Elmdale, Herington, and Marion attended. Following the meal, Diane Bolton of Council Grove and Cheryl Crooks of Alta Vista presented a slide show of their work and fun times on an African mission trip. They also had a display of souvenirs.

Cooper Riggin Tindle, son of Jake and Kellie Tindle and Hannah of Hutchinson was baptized Sunday at Burdick United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Branson officiating. Sponsors were Kelly Pearl of Wamego, Betsy Miller of Herington, and Scott Holder. Jack and Nancy Riggin served cookies, fruit, juice, and coffee after the service in fellowship hall.

Donna and Bob Rogers, Tucson, Ariz., daughter and son-in-law of D. Lowell Miller came April 16 to spend two weeks with Lowell. Lowell celebrated his 88th birthday Wednesday. Guests helping him celebrate included the Rogers, Alfred Miller of Herington, and George Miller.

Remember Isla Rose Nelson with prayers, visits, cards, and phone calls as she recuperates from wrist surgery. Her address is 406 West State Street, Cottage 33, Lindsborg 67456.

Logan Dunkin of Herington stayed Monday through Friday with Evelyn Forsberg. Sabrina Dunkin joined them Tuesday and Friday for dinner.

Gayla Deines visited Wednesday evening with Charles Gutsch after the church tea.

Dean Forsberg was a Wednesday and Friday dinner guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Wade and Morgan Rickenbrode of Council Grove spent Saturday and Sunday with Evelyn Forsberg. Earl and Ruth Schump of Herington were Saturday evening visitors. Ethan Forsberg visited Wednesday and Thursday evenings with Evelyn. Harry Schump of Herington was a Sunday dinner guest. Mary Deane Peterson visited late Sunday afternoon. That evening, Mike and Jane Rickenbrode came to pick up Wade and Morgan. Joe Forsberg of Salina visited Sunday evening.

Carly Simons and Josie Peterson of Lincolnville were Sunday dinner guests of Mary Deane Peterson.

Perry Gutsch, Anthony and Whitney of Herington were Sunday afternoon visitors of Charles and Darlene Gutsch. Perry and Anthony helped clean up limbs after tree trimming. Whitney helped her grandmother plant flowers.

Pat Baker of Lawrence and Neva Peterson visited Thursday afternoon with Paul Anderson at Council Grove.

Sixteen people enjoyed a potluck dinner and program Friday at the legion hall for Burdick senior citizens. Guests were Bob and Donna Rogers who attended with Donna's father, Lowell Miller. Lynley Remy brought 21 third grade students from Centre Elementary School to present a program of patriotic and fun songs. Tana Riffel, a teacher, accompanied the group. Lee and Elinor Remy were hosts.

Chelsea Cowart of Herington spent Friday night with Mary Deane Peterson.

Charles and Arlene Carlson visited Friday evening with Kent and Jean Brunner. Others there were Jill Brunner and Tucker of Manhattan and Nolan and Melissa Brunner and Leah of Herington.

April 11-17

Charles and Arlene Carlson attended the baptism Easter Sunday of Preslee Karst, daughter of Jonnie and Cicely Karst of Wichita at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington. Following the service, Jonnie and Cicely, Preslee and Rylee, Ken and Alice Peterson, and Charles and Arlene were dinner guests of Mike and Linda Carlson.

Garth Strand and Molly of Buhler spent Saturday morning with Irvin and Audine Strand on their way to Overland Park. Molly want to check out UMKC campus at Kansas City.

Dr. Larry Peterson of Granby, Colo., came Saturday to the home of Neva Peterson to spend the week. Darrell and Candice Denault of Salina came Saturday evening and were guests of Neva until Sunday evening. They all attended Sunday Easter services at Burdick Hebron Lutheran Church.

Harry Schump of Herington and Dean Forsberg were Tuesday dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg.

Ken and Isla Bryant of Wichita were Saturday afternoon visitors of Mary Deane Peterson.

Lydia Circle of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, met Thursday afternoon. Attending were Gladys Albrecht, Mary Ann Schlesner, Clarine Jones, Ella Krauss, Alice Peterson of Herington, and Marie Anderson.

Logan Dunkin, Herington, stayed Tuesday and Wednesday with Evelyn Forsberg.

Darrell and Candice Denault, Larry Peterson, and Neva Peterson were Sunday afternoon visitors of Jack and Nancy Riggin.

Tom and Lynley Remy, Tad, Tye, and Katie were Easter Sunday dinner guests of Lee and Elinor Remy.

Charles Gutsch attended a soccer game Thursday evening at Herington. Whitney Gutsch was one of the players.

Harry Schump of Herington and Evelyn Forsberg attended a reception Wednesday evening for Military Woman of the Year, FSC Rebecca Elias of Council Grove at the First Congregational meeting room.

Charles and Arlene Carlson visited Friday afternoon with Jean Brunner at Ramona. They also visited with Jill Brunner and Tucker of Manhattan, who also were at the Jean Brunner home.

Dean Forsberg, Savannah and Ethan were Thursday afternoon visitors of Evelyn Forsberg.

Wade Rickenbrode of Council Grove was a Thursday afternoon until Saturday evening guest of Evelyn Forsberg. Morgan Rickenbrode was a Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon guest.

Mary Deane Peterson assisted by Josie Peterson hosted an Easter Sunday dinner at her home. Guests were Burdette and Maureen Peterson, Oliver Peterson, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, Bill and Judy Peterson, Bret and Lisa Beye, Samantha, Elizabeth, Cuyler, and Chelsea of Herington, Shelly Peterson, Scott and Josie of Lincolnville, Ron and Jenny Schrader, Hunter and Shea, Cesar and Kelli Salazar and Rigo of Wichita, and Selina Seifert of Lost Springs. In the afternoon all participated in a work session at her home. Also assisting was a neighbor, Rick Basore.

Forrest and Marie Anderson were weekend guests of Gary and Karen Korte at Emporia. They attended Easter services at St. Mark's. Other Easter dinner guests at the Korte home were E.T. Anderson, Jean Bradshaw, Ian Korte of Emporia, Erin Korte of Manhattan, and Mary Korte of Arkansas City. Dr. Steve Korte of Fort Smith, Ark., was an afternoon guest.

Charles and Darlene Gutsch were guests at a Sunday noon Easter dinner at Marion, hosted by Bruce Winkler. Other guests were Gene and Doris Winkler, Brian and Sherri Hess, Macy, Kelli, Erika, and Jake of Marion, Debi Kreutzman, Dorothy Rindt, and Lisa Anderson of Wichita.

Evelyn Forsberg hosted an Easter Sunday dinner at her home. Guests were Harry Schump, Marcus and Sabrina Dunkin and Logan, Joe Forsberg of Salina, Mike and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan, and Nanette Forsberg, Ethan and Savannah. Dean Forsberg was a late afternoon guest.

Josie Peterson of Lincolnville was a weekend guest of Mary Deane Peterson.

Charles and Darlene Gutsch attended Spring Showcase Tuesday evening at Herington Elementary School. Their granddaughter was in the program.
