Carlos Saenz

Carlos T. Saenz, 84, retired Santa Fe Railroad employee, died Jan. 9, 2005, at Legacy Park, Peabody.

He was born July 5, 1920, at El Paso, Texas, to Gregorio and Emeteria (Nunoz) Saenz. They preceded him in death.

He married Sarah Rodriguez on Oct. 30, 1941, at Newton. She survives of the home.

He was a World War II veteran and served in the Army and retired from the air National Guard. He loved his family, transporting grandchildren to school and enjoyed raising his granddaughter, Paula Harris and grandson, Vincent Saenz. He was an avid gardener.

Other survivors include one daughter, Frances Martinez of Peabody; two sons, Carlos Saenz Jr. of Halstead and Fred Saenz of Peabody; two sisters, Marianne Llamas and Jennie Rodriguez, both of Newton; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He also was preceded in death by a brother, Fidel Saenz; a sister, Dionecia "Dee" Delgadillo; and a great-grandchild, Baby Angel Martinez.

Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Baker Funeral Home, Peabody.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Holy Family Parish, Florence, with Father Stephen Gronert officiating.

Burial will be at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

Memorial funds have been established with Peabody Elementary School playground fund and American Legion Post #95 Avenue of Flags.
