Carlson-Tharp vows solemnized

Carla Dyan Carlson and David William Tharp, both of Marion, were married at 4 p.m. July 15 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion.

Parents of the couple are Greg and Linda Carlson and Blair and Nancy Tharp, all of Marion.

Honored guests at the wedding were the couple's grandparents, Bill and Edna Robinson of Florence, Gary and Shirley Carlson, Earl and Louise Wood, and Dalene Tharp, all of Marion.

Associate pastor Rick Branson officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

The bride's aunt, Cheryl Doty of Emporia was the vocalist. Anita Brookens of Marion was organist.

Candles were lighted by the bride's cousin, Chassidy Carlson of Hillsboro and Daniel Melvin of Steamboat Springs, Colo.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white satin with a halter neck, beaded bodice, and chapel-length train. She wore a tiara and veil headpiece.

She carried a bouquet of red roses, accented with white mini gerbera daisies and white lisianthus.

Rachael Becker of Wichita was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the groom's sister, Becky Bernhardt, and the bride's sister, Melissa Carlson, both of Marion.

They wore sleeveless spaghetti strap gowns of red satin featuring chiffon-draped neckline and back drape. They carried smaller gathered bouquets of white roses and white lisianthus.

Alli Hett of Marion was the flower girl. The ring bearer was the bride's cousin, Cordell Robinson of Wichita.

Jess Whiteman of Marion served his friend as best man. Groomsmen were Carl Williams of Manhattan and the bride's brother, Nick Carlson of Marion.

Guests were seated by the groom's brother-in-law, Tyler Bernhardt, the bride's cousins, Casey Reece and Chase Carlson, and the groom's cousin, Blake Jones.

The bride's cousin, Hollie Reece of Emporia was the guest book attendant. Bev Robinson of Wichita, Chance Reece of Hillsboro, and Alyssa Edwards of Marion were in charge of gifts. Wedding programs were distributed by the bride's cousins, Chip and Amy Reece of Omaha, Neb.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Wesley Center at Eastmoor.

Reception attendants were Chelsi Carlson and Jessi Carlson, both of Marion, Jenni Doty of Emporia, and Jane Melvin of Steamboat Springs, Colo.

A buffet dinner and dance followed at Marion Country Club.

The bride is a graduate of Marion High School and currently is a senior at Emporia State University, majoring in elementary education. She is student teaching in the El Dorado school system and will graduate from ESU in May.

Her husband is a graduate of Marion High School and earned a welding degree from Manhattan Area Vo-Tech. He is self-employed as a rancher.

Following a wedding trip to Colorado Springs, Colo., the couple lives at 1219 Quail Creek, Peabody.

Rehearsal dinner

The groom's family hosted a picnic following the rehearsal Friday evening. Guests were the wedding party and extended family.
