Central Park is home to new playground equipment

Ribbon cutting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday

The poles are up and the slides are set. By the end of the week the new playground equipment at Central Park, Marion, should be ready for use.

The equipment includes four slides, two separate swing sets located east and north of the main playground, a tire climber, balance beam, and other amenities that are sure to delight children of all ages.

Central Park Improvement Committee members Becky Makovec, Angela Lange, and Clark Wildin spear-headed the fund-raising project with numerous events and opportunities. Older, wooden equipment was removed to make way for the new.

Edging and six-inch rubber mulch will be placed around the equipment for added safety.

A ribbon-cutting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the park.

Even though the equipment is in place, fund-raising continues with approximately $10,000 still needed to pay for the entire project.

A circus is planned May 16 by the sports complex on Eisenhower Drive. Bricks also continue to be sold.

Anyone interested in making a donation should contact the city office at (620) 382-3703.
