Centre FFA members successful at state convention

Several members of the Centre FFA chapter finished high in competition over the weekend at the state convention in Manhattan.

The par-law team of Gloria Belton, Kristine Jirak, Tye Remy, Dallas Rosenow, Julie Rziha, and Allie Will finished in second place.

The leadership information team placed fifth, with Rziha placing fourth individually and Nellie Hill finishing sixth.

Jirak finished second in prepared public speaking. Hill competed in extemporaneous public speaking and finished fifth in job interview.

The chapter finished in the gold division in student development of the National Chapter Award and the silver division in chapter and community development.

Nine members received state degrees: Alisha Barney, Andy Carlson, Savannah Forsberg, Jirak, Alfonse Klenda, Jeremy Kristek, Kevin Mueller, Ryan Richmond, and Jo Terwilliger.

Jackie Klenda retired as the 2006-07 state treasurer and received a $1,000 national FFA scholarship.

Other students who attended the convention were: Nathan Barney, Shelby Deines, Alex Hajek, Heath Hill, and Sammi Seifert. They were accompanied by advisers Cary Granzow and Gaea Wimmer.
