Centre girls finish 1-1 at home triangular

Centre volleyball girls got another win Sept. 11 at a triangular played at home. After losing to Solomon, they defeated Elyria.

In the match with Solomon, the first game proved to be a cliff-hanger. On good serving, 25-of-26, which garnered five points each on serves from Samantha Alvarez and Carlye Simons, and good spiking by Kylie Burhoop, Bridgette Burns, and Simons, the Cougars won 26-24.

They dropped the next two games, 21-25 and 19-25, to lose the match.

The junior varsity defeated Solomon in two games, 25-17 and 25-21. Tori Schill led scoring with 12 service points.

The varsity went on to defeat Elyria in two games, 25-6 and 25-11. It was the second time this season they faced Elyria and won.

Simons was leading scorer, serving for 11 points altogether. Leann Pankratz led at the net, completing 14-of-16 spike attempts, including 11 kills.
