The record of the Centre High School girls' varsity basketball team is shifting decidedly downward.

The team lost three games beginning Feb. 4 in a makeup game at White City. Although they trailed most of the game, they stayed within two or three points until the final two minutes of the fourth quarter. The final score was 41-33.

The junior varsity was defeated 11-9 in a two-quarter game.

In a game played at Olpe Friday, the Lady Cougars were defeated by more than 30 points. Statistics were not available. The junior varsity was defeated 50-10.

A makeup game was played Monday at Solomon. Centre lost 45-35. The girls were outscored in the first half 32-19 but outscored Solomon 16-13 in the second half, not enough for a win.

Shelby Deines led scoring with 10 points, followed by Leann Pankratz eight and Allison Shields seven.

The regional tournament will be held next week at Goessel. Brackets were not available at press time.
