The Lady Cougars went home with a win Friday after defeating White City on the road by the skin of their teeth.

They had defeated the Lady Huskies by 12 points just six days earlier in the league tournament, but this match-up proved to be a bit tougher.

The girls struggled to score but led 11-8 after one quarter.

They couldn't get their inside game going and many of their shots from the outside were off the mark.

Despite that, they built a six-point lead in the second quarter. However, White City followed with nine unanswered points to take a halftime lead, 23-21.

An 11-10 third quarter by Centre narrowed the gap to one. The game was tied several times in the final quarter. White City led by one point when Kylie Burhoop scored to give Centre a final one-point lead for a win.

Alyssa Luna was the only Lady Cougar to score in double digits. She had 12 points. Burhoop scored seven, Samantha Alvarez and Megan Gutsch six each, Teaira Turner three, and Brittany Owens two.

Their record stands at 11-3.

The junior varsity defeated White City easily, 39-9, in three quarters.

Leann Pankratz led scoring with 12 points, followed by Shelby Deines with nine. Bridgette Burns, Josie Peterson, and Brooke Carlson contributed four points each and Amy Hajek, Nellie Hill, and Gloria Belton added two each.
