Centre golf team wins Council Grove tourney
For the second consecutive week, a Centre High School team has won a golf tournament.
The Centre A team of Heath Hill, Tyler Klenda, Adam Matz, Jacob Jennings, Quentin Wacker, and Benjamin Wirtz took first place Saturday at the Council Grove invitational involving 10 schools. The team compiled a 171.
Hill was first out of 50 golfers, finishing the round with 39 strokes.
Klenda was fourth with a 42, and Matz sixth and Jennings seventh, both with a 45. Wacker shot a 53 for 20th place, and Wirtz shot a 63.
Two members of the Centre B team finished in the top 25: Bryant Brunner, 16th, with a 49, and Tye Remy, 22nd, with a 54.
Other members of the team were: Kacey Hanschu, 65; Justine Jennings, 65; Derek Calvert, 71; and Seth Stroda 81.
