Centre hosts FFA Greenhand conference

Centre FFA hosted the South Central District Greenhand Conference Monday.

At least 370 first-year members from 26 schools participated in an FFA information test and workshops to prepare them for their future FFA career.

The 17 greenhands from the Centre FFA chapter were: Ben Baker, Tanner Brunner, Brian Burhoop, Amanda Floyd, Ripley Howard, Jacob Jirak, Rustyn Kerbs, Tyler Klenda, Jesse Kopietz, Casey Kristek, Tori Marler, Adam Matz, Katie Remy, Allison Shields, Emily Staatz, Cole Svoboda, and Benjamin Wirtz.

Presented by Kyle Essley, state secretary, and Taylor James, state treasurer, workshops were conducted on meeting people, supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs), goal setting, and opportunities in FFA.

Centre hosted the conference because Nellie Hill is president of the South Central District. Two other Centre members, Kristine Jirak and Julie Rziha, are district secretary and reporter, respectively.

Five members of the Centre chapter finished in the top 10 in the information test: Cole Svoboda, first, Brian Burhoop, third, Rustyn Kerbs, fifth, Adam Matz sixth, and Benjamin Wirtz, eighth.
