Centre defeated Quivira Heights a year ago at home. 30-14, and the Thunderbirds returned the favor and then some Friday, defeating Centre 58-0.
The game was over at halftime after Heights scored eight touchdowns and 10 extra points in two quarters. One touchdown was scored on a 31-yard run after an interception and one was scored on a 32-yard punt return.
Most of Heights' gains were made through the air. They completed 11-of-14 passes for 215 yards. Centre's Ben Krause connected on 4-of-12 passes for 39 yards.
Centre rushed for 33 yards on 23 carries compared to 73 yards on 14 carries by Heights.
Bryant Brunner was the star of the Centre team. He was leading rusher, with eight carries for 14 yards, and caught two passes for 33 yards. He also had six solo and three assisted tackles.
The Cougars travel to Burrton Friday.
