Chase Co. school district recipient of Laughridge gift

Robert and Hattie Laughridge left a gift of $200,404.20 to the Chase County school district to be used for scholarships for graduating seniors.

The Laughridges lived in Cedar Point all their married life. Robert worked for Heckendorn Company of Cedar Point until his retirement. He was active with the Cedar Point Fire Department.

Hattie was a news correspondent for the Cedar Point area for the Marion County Record.

They were faithful members of Cedar Point United Methodist Church. She was a dedicated member of the Order of Eastern Star and Robert was involved with the Masonic Lodge. Hattie always thought of the lodges as their family, as they had no children.

The Laughridges also leave gifts to Cedar Point United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge of Florence, and Order of Eastern Star of Newton.
