Chat and Dine Club to dedicate historical marker

Celebrating Marion County Park and Lake's history and heritage is the theme of Chat and Dine activities on Oct. 7.

Activities begin at 5 p.m. at the CCC commemorative statue for the dedication of the historical marker, a gift from the family of Edward McBurney, superintendent /engineer of construction of the lake dam.

Following the dedication there will be social hour at the lake hall. A lasagna dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Members are asked to bring accompanying dishes.

"Revisiting the Original Marion County Park and Lake," a Power Point presentation by Landon Leiker will provide nostalgic information about the park and lake to former and current lake residents and guests.

Other activities on the agenda include birthday and anniversary recognition and the drawing for a school birdhouse with a bell tower, donated by Nadine Iseli. The birdhouse will be on display at Central Park Antiques Emporium until Oct. 7.

Hosts are Helen and Dwight Beckham, Marilyn and Larry Hamler, Gwen Heckathorn, and Clara Bremer.

Invited guests are the Cleland McBurney family and Marion County Commissioners.
