Chat and Dine ends season with supper, meeting

Marion County Lake residents enjoyed a soup supper Saturday evening for the final Chat and Dine meeting of the season.

In recognition of the 40th year of Chat and Dine, three families were honored. Still residing at the lake are Blanche and Charlie Cowan, Tootsie and Dale Snelling, and John Waner. The Cowans, Snellings, and Waner recalled some of the more memorable events of their 40 years as lake residents.

A table display of lake directories and one of the members' two cookbooks, along with a summary of four decades of activity was provided by Wilma Gilmer.

Fifty-three attended the soup supper, meeting, and friendship bingo.

Marjorie and Lee Nelson were recognized as first-time attendees. Those with November or December birthdays were recognized — Sally Attwater, Dale Snelling, Gloria Moody, Jenny Alderson, Judith Priest, Homer McKellips, and Neysa Eberhard. Marilyn and Larry Hamler were recognized for having a wedding anniversary.

Peggi Wilson reported the y and the Iselis cleaned along the shoreline and collected 10 bags of trash and four tires. They used Willis Peterson's pontoon boat.

The treasurer's report was given by Nadine Iseli.

Election of new members for the coordinating committee for 2007 was approved. New members are Carolyn and Paul White and Alberta Pritz. Continuing to serve are Nadine Iseli, Carol and Don Kirchmer, and Jean McKellips. Volunteers for hosting the meetings the first Saturdays of the month from April through November should contact Jean McKellips or Nadine Iseli.

More than a dozen were winners at friendship bingo, but Bob Risenhoover was the blackout winner. Winners of the drawings included Peggi Wilson, Earl Hancock, Marilyn Hamler, Brigette Pennington, Bob Risenhoover, and Cara Stockdale.

Those cooking from "scratch" and donating soups were Sue and Willis Peterson, Wilma Gilmer, Nadine Iseli, and Neysa Eberhard.

Hosts for the evening were Jean Maples, Don Thomas, Sallie and Paul Attwater, Tina and Earl Hancock. Cody Hancock also helped.

The next Chat and Dine meeting will be April 7.
