LETTERS:   Check the facts years ago

To the Editor:

Facts, things we accepted for ourselves and are not always a fact:

Mike Norris: I am the "he" you addressed in your remarks in the newspaper. I am pleased that you got a chuckle over my faux pas calling Senator Obama a governor. The remark was to elicit comments and there were two.

Truth, we do not have to hold our hands over our heart when reciting our pledge of allegiance or singing our national anthem. It is an attitude of respect.

How do you know he has never recited the pledge of allegiance or not? Proof? Print it for us. You have made statements as if they are fact. Do you have proof? Your mock gasp at Ellison being a Muslim should include Obama who is — gasp! — a Muslim.

You need to do some checking about religious persecution in this country. I would suggest you start with the Quakers and their way of doing church. Their religion was reverse discrimination. Progress to the time of John Kennedy running for president. You never heard the great uproar about the Pope being in charge of this country?

For the past several years the courts have been hammering Christians on the placement of the 10 Commandments. Christmas scenes not on other than places of private property but allowable if the manger scene was removed.

A couple of years ago the city of San Francisco made the Salvation Army take away all of their cards, which contained the name of Jesus, from all of the city's public transportation vehicles. One of the latest is to force the veterans hospitals to take the cross from the chapel.

Sorry, I read about Rush Limbaugh in the paper. I have never listened to him and I have no knowledge of Sean Hannity. These must be men you listen to.

I research any and everything. I agree with you in part on the futility remark, however I do not believe we practice that one is innocent until proved guilty. I believe it has been reversed.

You are correct. I am going to continue to believe what I want to believe and unless one who refutes my thought with proof, my belief will remain the same.

I do appreciate your comments.
