Children s theatre plans production

More than 30 children and teen-agers will perform in the musical "Kokonut Island," by Tim Kelly.

The play will be presented at 7:30 p.m., July 28, 29, and 30, at Marion Auditorium, 203 N. Third Street, Marion.

Directed by Cathy Whitaker, the play is sponsored by Marion REC. Assistant director is Michael Brookens.

The hilarious, slapstick comedy is appropriate for the entire family.

"We are really excited about the production," said Whitaker, "and we're hoping people take the time to come see the kids."

The cast has been rehearsing from 9 a.m. to noon daily since July 5.

There will be a "three stooges-type" chase scene in the play that is sure to delight the audience, said Whitaker.

The cast of characters are: Isaac Baldwin as Roy Boy; Kara Druse as Maw Cawawkee; Olivia Dicks as Cordelia Hawkins; Brady Hudson as Swampy; Annie Whitaker as Betty; Ryan Nelson as Tom Scrimshaw; Kristen Geis as Eva Parker; Adam Svoboda as Ted Parker; Emily Meador as Doris Hoyt; and Dylan Goebel as Chic Sutherland.

Other cast members are Brenna Blackketter, Emily Hett, Chelsea Voth, Nichole Herzet, Jacob Baldwin, James Svoboda, Ericka Herzet, Erin Meierhoff, Danae Edwards, Caroline Collett, Jacob Spachek, Monica Spachek, Josiah Meador, Seth Snelling, Tristen Snelling, Jennifer Fruechting, Kristen Herzet, Rachel Neil, Madison Chamberland, and Madison Dicks.

Admission is adults $3, students $2, pre-school and younger, free.
