Centre High School girls' basketball team hasn't faced much stiff competition so far this year.

Friday's game at Elyria Christian High School southeast of McPherson wasn't any different. They defeated Elyria, 52-18.

By the end of the first quarter, the Lady Cougars had gained a 22-5 lead.

Both teams scored six points in the second quarter, Centre's coming on two consecutive three-point shots by Selena Seifert. Centre led 28-11 at halftime.

Elyria failed to score in the third quarter while Centre added 19 points. Elyria outscored Centre 7-5 in the final quarter, but the Lady Cougars finished with an easy 34-point win.

Kylie Burhoop led scoring with 12 points, followed with Selena Seifert with 10.

The team as of Friday was 7-1 overall and undefeated in league play. They faced Hope Tuesday in a competitive league game and will play Herington Friday in a non-league matchup.
