CHS JV falls to Hope

The junior varsity football team from Centre High School played Monday at Hope and was defeated, 16-24.

Hope scored eight points in each of the first three quarters while Centre failed to score.

Then, in the final quarter, the Cougars scored twice and Hope did not score.

Matt Leach scored the first Centre touchdown and the two-point conversion. Kevin Mueller received a pass from Ben Krause and ran for the second touchdown. Krause ran for the extra points.

Hope rushed for 173 yards on the night, compared to 79 by Centre. Both teams were almost equal in passing yards.

Leach was leading rusher with 12 carries for 47 yards. Mueller received the ball two times and ran for a gain of 39 yards.

Leach also was active defensively. He had four unassisted and 10 assisted tackles. Mueller had three unassisted and 11 assisted tackles. Jim Weber was 4-and-4 and Ryan Richmond 3-and-6. Weber blocked a punt.
