The past week was a tough one for the Centre Cougars. Three games, including a makeup game at Wakefield, resulted in losses.

Due to an injury Jan. 25 during the homecoming game against White City, James Weber was not able to play and will be out the remainder of the season.

At Wakefield, an especially bad third quarter in which the Bombers outscored Centre 19-7 sealed the Cougars' fate and resulted in a 23-point loss, 76-53.

The team completed 16-of-55 field goals and was 4-of-14 from three-point range. They had nine turnovers.

Zach Slayden scored 14 points, provided four assists, and turned the ball over four times. Trevor Troutt scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds. Freshman Tanner Brunner also scored in double digits with 11 points.

Centre vs. Solomon

Bryant Brunner scored seven points, Konley Harding made two free throws, and freshman Brian Burhoop made a field goal in the first quarter of the game against Solomon. Centre trailed 13-19.

Solomon started the second quarter with 12 unanswered points, as Centre turned the ball over again and again.

After several more runs in the third quarter, Solomon led, 60-29. The Gorillas outscored Centre 13-7 in the fourth to win by a wide margin, 67-42.

B. Brunner was the only Centre player to score in double digits. He had 14. Troutt had six rebounds and Ben Krause provided three assists. The team turned the ball over 13 times.

Centre vs. Lebo

In a non-league match-up Friday, the Cougars faced the Lebo Wolves.

The team held its own, staying within striking range for three quarters, before a 21-11 Lebo scoring advantage in the fourth gave the Wolves a 17-point win, 80-63.

Centre shot 40.7 percent from field goal range, 33 percent from three-point range, and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Troutt and Slayden scored 18 points each, and T. Brunner scored 10. T. Brunner and Troutt led in rebounding with eight each. Once again, the team turned the ball over 13 times.

The Cougars have another three-game week this week, all on the road at White City, Solomon, and Olpe.
