Five schools participated April 8 in the Centre High School invitational track meet at Marion.

The Centre girls' team placed third and the boys' team placed fourth. Marion girls finished in fifth place and Marion boys were third. Other teams were from Moundridge, Haven, and Leon-Bluestem.

It was a cold, cloudy day with a brisk wind blowing from the northwest. Participants donned jackets or sweat clothes until it was time for them to perform, then scrambled to put them back on when they were finished.

Rustyn Kerbs led the Cougars with a first-place finish of five minutes, 21 seconds in the 1600-meter run. He placed second in the 3200 with a time of 11:28.

Trevor Troutt placed second in boys' discus with a throw of 123 feet and five inches.

Among the girls, Sammie Seifert took second place in high jump. She cleared the bar at 4-2. Carlye Simons finished second in triple jump with a span of 30-2.
