Even though it appeared the Marion City Commission had a light agenda Monday, an important decision was made by approving the 2005 budget.

Hearing no comments during the public hearing, the commission unanimously approved the document in regular session.

In other business:

— Warrants for $228,195 and payroll for $30,191 were approved. The warranted included a $26,158 bond payment and $75,323 Westar Energy payment for city electric customers.

— Commission approved the July utility billing accounts receivable.

— Harvey Sanders, public utility superintendent, presented a written report. He said city crews sprayed mosquito repellent this past week.

— City administrator David Mayfield reported a meeting was scheduled with Marion-Florence Recreation Commission this evening to discuss its 2005 budget.

Another meeting was scheduled for later this evening with city officials and local landlords to discuss billing options for rental properties.
