City, residents receive assistance after storm

Marion Police Department provided assistance to city crews and residents after a storm June 16.

June 16: Vehicle identification number inspections were provided at Marion Police Department. Marion County Sheriff deputies received assistance with an inmate at the county jail. Officers provided a storm watch and assisted electrical crews in locating outage areas, blocked traffic for downed lines, and investigated building debris on South Third and Water streets. A sheriff's deputy wasn't available so a local officer responded to a report of power lines "sparking" at 190th and Remington; Marion Fire Department responded to a pole on fire.

June 17: An officer met with a citizen regarding a power outage. A civil standby was conducted. A limb was located on a line in the 600 block of South Cedar Street. A subject met with an officer regarding a trailer being moved; electrical crews were alerted to move power lines.

June 18: Subjects met with an officer regarding a "house watch" on North Lincoln Street. Traffic control was provided as requested by a sheriff's deputy on 190th and Old Mill following a collision. A domestic dispute was reported in the 100 block of North Freeborn Street; the situation was verbal and an officer had one person leave the premises. Union Pacific officials were contacted regarding the malfunctioning of a railroad crossing arms on West Main Street. A business alarm was checked after being activated. A dog running at-large was picked up in the 800 block of South Roosevelt Street. A subject was located after fleeing from a Hillsboro Police Officer; after questioning, the suspect was turned over to HPD. A suspect was arrested for driving on a suspended driver's license.

June 19: Response was given to an ambulance call in the 100 block of West Main Street. A vehicle parked on North Cedar Street was checked. A civil paper was served. A lost motorist received assistance. An officer talked with a citizen regarding a complaint. A citation was issued for driving outside of restrictions. Suspicious activity was witnessed by an officer in Central Park; a vehicle was stopped and investigated.

June 20: A trespassing complaint was filed; when an officer arrived, the subjects were gone. Illegal dumping was investigated; the area was photographed to make a case. An officer attended a countywide, multi-agency meeting regarding grants. Assistance was given to the city's water department to obtain water samples from a facility. A delayed, non-injury accident report was filed a day after the accident occurred in the 100 block of West Santa Fe Street. An officer attempted to serve civil papers. Suspicious activity was reported in an alley in the 200 block of East Main Street.

June 21: An officer met with a business owner regarding concerns about a customer. An open records request was processed. A complaint in the 300 block of North Lincoln Street was investigated. An incident report was filed by court services regarding storm damaging their equipment the previous week. A civil process paper was served. Officers conducted a storm watch.

Thursday: Legal research was conducted for an investigation. A warning was issued for curfew violation. An animal complaint in the 500 block of North Cedar Street was checked. A complaint of a verbal dispute in the 600 block of East Main Street was investigated; an officer met with both subjects and advised them to stay away from each other.

Friday: An officer met with a subject regarding their license suspension. A warning was issued for riding a motorcycle without eye protection. Deputies received assistance with a combative suspect who was arrested for DUI. Response was provided to an ambulance call in the 200 block of North Freeborn Street.
