City spells out improvements for house

Marion City Commission approved a resolution setting out requirements for improvements to property deemed a safety concern.

Property located at 1018 E. Denver and owned by Donald Marques of Springhill, Fla., may be improved to avoid demolition.

The roof structure must be repaired or replaced to prevent leakage, exterior walls and/or roof must be sealed to eliminate exposure to outdoor elements, owner must prove all plumbing and electrical wiring is in working order, install compliant heating system, and repair or remove carport structure.

The owner is required to begin repairs within 30 days from the date of publication of the resolution, which is today (Wednesday), or no later than Nov. 12.

Repairs are to be completed by Jan. 1, 2005. The commission was given the discretion to grant the owner an extension.

If the owner fails to make the necessary improvements within the allowable time and is not granted an extension, the structure will be removed at the owner's expense.
