CJHS girls advance to semifinals

Centre Junior High School girls defeated Hope Saturday, 26-17, in the opening round of the Tri-County League tournament being held at Hope High School.

They will play Solomon at 4 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals.

Just three players scored all the points in the game against Hope. Shelby Deines led with 15 points, followed by Josie Peterson with six and Carlye Simons with five.

In a game played Thursday at home, the Lady Cougars defeated Flint Hills of Manhattan, 30-13.

Deines again was leading scorer with 10 points. Simons scored six points, Dallas Rosenow, Tori Schill, and Peterson four points each, and DJ Chavers two.

If the team gets past Solomon Thursday, they will play for the championship at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. If they lose, they will play for third place at noon Saturday.
