CJHS girls defeat Hope

Centre Junior High School girls' teams came away victorious Monday after playing Hope at home.

The A team won, 36-18, led by Ripley Howard, who scored 17 points including five consecutive field goals in the third quarter.

Centre led all the way, scoring eight in the first quarter compared to two by Hope. Both teams scored six points in the second quarter.

A third quarter tally of 13 points put the Lady Cougars up 27-10, and a 9-2 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter resulted in an 18-point victory.

Other scorers were Allison Shields six, Jessica Turley five, and Amanda Floyd and Tori Schill four each.

The B team matchup was more of a challenge. Centre managed to stay a couple of points ahead of Hope throughout the game to win, 28-26.

Eight players contributed points. They were: D.J. Chavers and Brianna Alvarez six each; Katie Remy and Theo Kassebaum four each; and Turley, Emily Staatz, Katy Shaw, and Dani Spohn two each.

The next games are scheduled for Nov. 30 at Manhattan Luckey.
