CJHS girls defeat Prairie Heights

Centre Junior High School girls' basketball team traveled Thursday to Alta Vista to play Prairie Heights.

The A team defeated Heights 38-13.

Shelby Deines contributed six of the 16 points the girls scored in the first quarter. They led 16-4 at the end of the quarter.

Both teams struggled to score in the second quarter, Centre adding four and Heights two. The score was 20-6 at halftime.

The team led scoring, 10-2 and 8-5, in the two quarters of the second half to win the game by 25 points.

Deines and Carlye Simons scored eight points each, followed by Bridgette Burns, Danielle Tajchman, and Leann Pankratz, six points each, and Katie Johnson four.

The B team defeated Prairie Heights 8-2 in a shortened game of two quarters. Deines scored four points, and Samantha Seifert and Sheila Makovec two each.
