CJHS girls defeat St. Xavier

Centre Junior High School girls' basketball team played St. Xavier Thursday at home in the first Eisenhower League game of the season. They won handily, 41-17.

Shelby Deines added four, Bridgette Burns, three, and Kirsten Johnson, Samantha Seifert, and Josie Peterson, two each.

In a non-conference match-up, Nov. 15, Centre girls played Marion Middle School at home.

The varsity was defeated 36-23. Marion led by three points, 10-7, at the end of the first quarter, and gradually increased its lead as the game wore on.

Except for two points scored the second quarter, Centre scored seven points in each of the other quarters. The girls made five of 16 free throw attempts compared to two of 13 by Marion.

Simons was leading scorer with seven points, followed by Tajchman with six. Other scorers were Burns and Deines with three points each.

The Marion B team defeated Centre 11-4 in a half-game. Simons scored three points followed by Seifert, Burns, Deines, and Nikkiik with two each.
