Classes plan reunions for OSD weekend

Marion High School graduating classes are planning class reunions during the Old Settlers' Day weekend. Most will ride in the parade and participate in afternoon activities in Central Park, Marion.

Class of 1947

Marion High School class of 1947 will celebrate their 60th reunion.

Class members will gather at 5 p.m. Friday at Marion Country Club, followed by a tailgate party at Marion Stadium at 6 p.m. and the Marion High School homecoming football game at 7 p.m.

Class members will meet in the Presbyterian or Christian church parking lots at 9 a.m. Saturday to be bused to the VFW post home for breakfast. The group will ride in the parade and participate in the afternoon festivities in Central Park.

A banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Zimmerman's Deli, Marion.

Class of 1957

Marion High School class of 1957 will begin their 50th reunion celebration with a get-together at 7 p.m. Friday at the Marion County Lake home of Dick and Margie Schwartz.

Coffee and rolls will be served at 9 a.m. Saturday at Marion Senior Center, 309 S. Third. Parade lineup will begin at 10 a.m. along Walnut Street. Class members are urged to bring candy to throw along the parade route.

Following the 11 o'clock parade, lunch is on your own, followed by the program in Central Park at 2 p.m. with the recognition of classes at 2:30.

A catered dinner will be provided at 6:30 p.m. at Marion Senior Center.

Class of 1972

MHS Class of 1972 will celebrate their 35th reunion during the Old Settlers' Day weekend.

Festivities will begin by participating in the tailgate supper at Marion Stadium at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by the MHS Warriors homecoming football game at 7 p.m. A social will be held for all classes at Marion Country Club following the football game.

Saturday activities begin with class members meeting for rolls and coffee at 10 a.m. on Walnut Street and riding in the 11 o'clock parade.

Lunch is on your own and classes may tour Marion High School.

The introduction of classes will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the park.

At 5 p.m., class members and guests will meet for a social time at Country Dreams Bed & Breakfast, 2309 Clover Rd., Marion, followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

VFW Auxiliary

to serve breakfast

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6958 will serve a breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. Old Settlers' morning, Sept. 29, at the post home, 420 W. Santa Fe, Marion.

Breakfast casseroles, breads, fresh fruit, coffee, milk, and juice will be served. Coffee will be available until parade time.
