Clifford Roberts

Clifford Jule Roberts, 77, died June 11, 2008, at Asbury Park, Newton.

Cliff was born in Peabody on Aug. 11, 1930. He graduated from Burns High School in 1948.

He retired from the Marion County Road and Bridge Department.

Cliff was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and the University of Kansas Jayhawks. He loved to fish and tell stories around the campfire.

Survivors include his four children, Gary Roberts and wife Diana of Conway, Ark., Charney Price and husband David of Newton, Wanda Lambert and husband Wendel of Ulysses, and Galen Roberts and wife Greta of Bonne Terre, Mo.; three sisters, Bonnie Richards and Betty Wagoner of El Dorado and Doris Guggisberg and husband Carl of Lawrence; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jule and Tina Roberts.

Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at Baker Funeral Home, Peabody, with burial at Summit Cemetery, Summit Methodist church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or Asbury Park, Newton, in care of Baker Funeral Home, Peabody.
